For those seeking legal help at a fraction of the cost and a general overview regarding divorce, separation, and something new called a “suspended divorce” Michele recommends:  MiraCosta College offers a community service as it partners with attorney mediators, divorce attorneys and other professionals.

A divorce workshop for men is being offered now as well.

Click on miracosta.edu/commsvcs.  Click on Community Ed Bulletin (PDF) or got to Personal Enrichment or phone 760-795-6820.  no pre-registration required.  I met with Robert MacFarlane and as one of California’s first mediation attorney’s he has much to offer and a heart for his work.  He created the new “suspended divorce” which was ideally to help families like the kind I usually see who have a loved one with a Mood Disorder or Addiction and it takes a few years for the recovery process to occur.  This allows the family to be safe while the loved one has the extra incentive to complete the recovery work necessary to keep the marriage and family intact….He also teaches much about divorce mediation at many of the law schools and has worked with Bill Eddy, who was also the other first mediation attorney who was first a therapist and then became a lawyer so he could initiate this process.  They know many divorce mediation attorneys and can explain in the workshops why this is the better way to go!
